Watch Dr. Pimple Popper Squeeze a ‘Mouse’ from a Patient’s Neck Cyst

• In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper removes a cyst with gray-colored, icing-like contents from a patient’s neck.
• The cyst, which is removed with a firm pop, resembles a “dead mouse,” according to one morbid commenter.
• The contents of the cyst is colored by dead skin cells, which can vary in color depending on the amount of melanin present in a person’s skin.

Imagine a “dead mouse” festering under your skin, only evicted with an incision and firm-pressured “pop.” In the latest Instagram video from Dr. Pimple Popper—aka, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—that is exactly what one patient experiences, according to a gruesome Instagram comment on the post. But don’t worry, this soundless video doesn’t actually feature a rodent way past its prime, rather a cyst with grayish contents resembling a furry friend.

Dr. Pimple Popper is known for her food-related descriptions of skin conditions, which fans often run with in their own comments. But this time, one commenter had an especially gruesome description for this patient’s skin concern, likening the cyst contents to a dead mouse. “Was that a dead mouse?” the comment reads. What a colorful imagination.

The reason why the cyst’s contents resemble a dead rodent is actually easily explained. This epidermoid cyst, while extends from a blackhead plug, is filled with wet dead skin cells and keratin. Dead skin cells contained within the cyst can vary in color depending on the amount of melanin present in a person’s skin. A cyst’s coloring varies person to person, but a single person can experience varying colors of dead skin cells within the contents of a single cyst, as with this patient. This is what gives this particular cyst its gray and white appearance.

Check out the extremely gross (and extremely satisfying) video below. RIP little cyst mouse. We hardly knew you.
